Libya: Teachers Continue Strike for Salaries

Libyan public school teachers in Tripoli have been protesting for the third consecutive week, demanding better salaries, a reform of the salary scale, payment of arrears, and improved social guarantees. Achraf Abou Raoui, spokesperson for the General Teachers' Union of Libya, states that the movement now calls for a comprehensive overhaul of the unified salary grid to ensure fairness among public sector workers. The strike has disrupted public school operations nationwide since the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
