Guinea: Former Prime Minister Sidya Touré to be buried in Ivory Coast

Sidya Touré, former Guinean Prime Minister and opposition figure, will be buried in Ivory Coast where he had been living in exile for nearly five years. His body, repatriated from Paris after his death on September 25, will be laid to rest in Abidjan this Friday. His family chose Ivory Coast due to his close ties to the country, where he had built much of his administrative career, and because of strained relations with Guinean authorities, who had confiscated his house. Touré left Guinea after the September 2021 coup d’état and was a presidential candidate in 2010 and 2015.
