10 things to know about late Nollywood icon Olu Jacobs

Veteran Nollywood actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, passed away at the age of 84 on September 16, 2026. Born on July 11, 1942, in Kano, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began his professional career in the UK. Jacobs appeared in several British television productions and international films before becoming one of the pioneers of Nollywood, acting in over 120 films.
