13 Dead in Tracep Airline Plane Crash Near Kenge

Thirteen people, including military officers, died in a crash of a Tracep airline small plane near Kenge in Kwango province. The aircraft, a Let 410 from Kikwit heading to Kinshasa, encountered trouble while flying over Kenge, prompting the pilot to circle before crashing into a parcel of land in Manzao. Kenge’s mayor, Noël Kuketuka Mbemba, confirmed the plane left Kikwit at 1:50 PM and crashed around 2:05 PM, with victims found inside and around the wreckage; one person jumped before the crash and was killed by the propeller, others perished in the fire.
