2026 African Taekwondo Championships: Côte d'Ivoire shines in Bamako with 10 medals

At the 17th African Taekwondo Championships, held on May 30-31, 2026 in Bamako, Côte d'Ivoire finished second overall with ten medals, trailing only hosts Mali. Ruth Gbagbi claimed her eighth consecutive African title in -67 kg, joined by champions Nabintou Koné (-49 kg) and Ibo Hélène Koumba (-62 kg). Laurène Ossin Kimi won silver in -73 kg amid controversy over the scoring system. Côte d'Ivoire also collected five bronze medals.
