2026 Ballon d’Or: Harry Kane wins as Lamine Yamal’s camp reacts in all directions

Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or ahead of Lamine Yamal, who finished third despite winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup with FC Barcelona. Cameras showed the 19-year-old looking visibly disappointed when Kane’s name was announced; earlier in the evening, Yamal had claimed his third consecutive Kopa Trophy. Yamal’s uncle Abdul sharply criticized the result, calling his nephew the better player, while Barça president Joan Laporta voiced disappointment more cautiously. José Félix Díaz, the only Spanish voter, said Kane was not his preferred choice and that he had expected Mbappé or Yamal to win.
