2026 FIBA WWC: D’Tigress fall to South Korea in opening game

Nigeria’s D’Tigress opened their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign with a 99–81 defeat to South Korea in Berlin. After trailing 26-22 at the end of the first quarter, the African champions narrowed the gap to 48-45 at halftime. However, South Korea extended their lead after the break, and despite efforts from D’Tigress, they could not close the gap, ultimately losing by 18 points. Nigeria will now focus on their upcoming match against Hungary.
