2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations: Algeria overturned in the semifinals, missing a potential rematch with Morocco

Algeria was eliminated in the semifinals of its first Futsal Africa Cup of Nations after Angola came from two goals down to win 3-2 in Rabat. Mathieu Hammad scored from a free kick in the ninth minute, and Rayane Aït Hamadouche made it 2-0 in the 20th before Angola scored in the 29th, 35th and 38th minutes. The defeat denied Algeria a potential rematch with Morocco, which had beaten the Fennecs 4-0 in the group stage; Angola will face the three-time defending champions in the final. Algeria had reached the semifinals after drawing 2-2 with Libya and defeating Zambia 7-4.

Provincial executive secretary Jules Fila Kimfumu set the start date for November 2 and the end of the competition for May 31, 2027, provided three grounds are available.
