2026 Legislative Elections in Guinea: GMD Secures 94 Seats, Allies Claim 49

In Guinea's legislative elections on May 31, 2026, President Mamadi Doumbouya's movement, Génération pour la Modernité et le Développement (GMD), won 94 out of 147 National Assembly seats, securing an absolute majority. In the uninominal majority system, the GMD captured 94 of 98 seats, with only two constituencies resisting: Koundara, where FRONDEG won one seat, and Gbessia, where another party won three seats. All 49 proportional representation seats were taken by presidential coalition allies.
