Canal+ will not broadcast the 2026 World Cup in most French-speaking sub-Saharan African countries. Pay-TV rights were won by New World TV, a Togo-based group, for countries such as Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Gabon and DR Congo. FIFA did not accept Canal+'s offer, despite its acquisition of MultiChoice in 2025. Subscribers have launched an online petition demanding refunds or credits.
