2027: Atiku chose Amaechi to show he has nothing against Ndigbo - Okonkwo

ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo defended the choice of Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku Abubakar's running mate for the 2027 election, saying the decision shows Atiku has no prejudice against the Igbo. Okonkwo said on Channels TV that he would have preferred a candidate from the Southeast, but Atiku chose Amaechi due to his close ties to the region. After internal consultations and assurances that Southeast interests would be protected, Okonkwo accepted the decision.
