2027: Between Okowa and Ochei, a Trojan horse race?

Ifeanyi Okowa, former Delta State governor and APC member, and Victor Ochei, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and NDC member, are emerging as the leading contenders for Delta North’s Senate seat in 2027. Both have held senior public roles: Okowa has served as a doctor, senator and two-term governor, while Ochei served in the state assembly and led the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency. The author says their records qualify them to represent the Anioma people, but argues that candidates’ performance records will matter in a difficult election.
