2027 Elections: Kano Police Warn Against Fake News and Promise Robust Security

Kano State Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori said adequate security measures would be in place before, during and after the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the 2026 annual general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations’ Kano chapter, he urged information officers to verify reports and prevent rumours that could fuel violence. Police are conducting intelligence-led operations and working with other security agencies to address hate speech, political thuggery and misinformation. Bakori called on communicators to put accuracy, responsibility and the national interest first when reporting election results.
