2027: INEC chairman seeks traditional rulers’ support for credible elections

INEC chairman Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan urged traditional rulers in Kogi State to support peaceful, transparent and credible elections in 2027. At a meeting in Lokoja with rulers representing the state’s 21 local government areas, he said his visit was to assess staff and infrastructure ahead of the general elections and the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election. He asked the rulers to promote voter awareness and acceptance of credible results, and they pledged to pass his message on to their communities. Amupitan also commissioned a BVAS storage centre at the INEC state headquarters.
