INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan urged electoral staff in Nigeria’s North-East to remain neutral, improve operational readiness and ensure that no eligible voter is disenfranchised in the 2027 general elections. At a meeting and readiness assessment in Gombe, he warned that negligence, logistical failures, partisan conduct and poor communication could undermine public confidence. The region has 13,965,475 registered voters, about 13.51% of Nigeria’s total, including 3,012,547 in Bauchi State and 2,765,165 in Borno State. Amupitan also inspected INEC facilities in Gombe to assess preparations on the ground.
