2027: Kano NDC Governorship Candidates Still Missing from INEC’s Updated List

Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, remain absent from the updated final list released Saturday by Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC. Defending his own administration, Ortom cited the 2017 law prohibiting open grazing, the establishment of the Benue State Livestock Guards and support for Community Volunteer Guards. He also pointed to attacks on farming communities and began listing his education achievements, including more than 1,000 primary schools.

The bridge contract, awarded in 2021 for N9.85 billion, was later revised to N32.45 billion; the road contract was awarded in September 2026 for N6.92 billion and is due for completion in March 2028. Izeze said both projects had exceeded their expected timelines and must progress so residents of Orere and Ewu can benefit.
