2027: ‘Manipulate the system at your peril,’ Catholic bishop warns politicians

Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Most Rev. Godfrey Onah, warned politicians against manipulating the system or preventing opposition candidates from contesting the 2027 general elections. He said an incumbent’s only advantage is to present their record and persuade voters they can do better. No sitting president or governor has an automatic ticket, he said, adding that the people must decide without rigging or intimidation. Onah urged Nigerians to defend democracy and ensure the opposition is allowed to contest.
