2027: Miyetti Allah backs Tinubu’s re-election, citing livestock ministry

Baba Othman Ngelzarma, national president of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), declared support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. At a rally in Kaduna, he praised the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, established in July 2024 to address a longstanding demand from pastoralists and livestock operators. Livestock Development Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha urged industry stakeholders to use the ministry’s programmes and cited poor veterinary services and limited access to pasture and water among the sector’s challenges. He said seven veterinary hospitals had been completed and equipped through a World Bank-supported programme.

2026 Amended Finance Bill Rejected by Committee: Cheikh Diba Warns of Risks to State Treasury

The parliamentary committee rejected the 2026 amended finance bill despite explanations from Cheikh Diba’s Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning. The ministry says it addressed the Pastef parliamentary group’s concerns, including energy subsidies, family security grants and priority spending, but that no amendments or counterproposals were submitted. It warns that the rejection, amid limited budget flexibility, difficulty accessing financial markets and ongoing negotiations with the IMF, could delay funding and increase pressure on the state treasury. The ministry says the uncertainty could undermine priority spending and the resumption of investment.

Iran Struck 26 U.S. Sites in a Revealed Two-Stage Strategy

An Associated Press analysis published October 31 says more than 115 drone and missile strikes attributed to Iran or allied militias have damaged or destroyed structures at 26 U.S. sites in the Middle East since late February 2026, mainly in Kuwait. The opening attacks targeted radar-protection structures at Camp Arifjan and Naval Support Activity Bahrain, followed by strikes on hangars, aircraft and other military facilities. Ali Al Salem base was hit at least 30 times, while regional officials say Washington moved aircraft, air defenses and communications assets out of the Persian Gulf. RAND School of Public Policy’s Raphael Cohen said the attacks expose the limits of fixed military infrastructure, and Donald Trump is considering further strikes after the midterm elections.

District of Columbia and Virginia sue to block Trump’s triumphal arch plans

The District of Columbia and Virginia have filed a joint lawsuit seeking to block President Donald Trump’s planned triumphal arch. Filed Saturday, the complaint calls the project “flagrantly unlawful” and urges federal courts to intervene before construction begins, bringing the total number of lawsuits against the arch to three. Planned for Memorial Circle in Washington, the structure would stand 76 metres (250 feet) tall—30 metres taller than the Statue of Liberty—and veterans’ groups fear it would obstruct views of Arlington National Cemetery. The White House says construction could begin as early as next week, around November 5, after the administration unveiled a 106-page proposal for a 12-storey megastructure on Friday.
