2027: Presidency Should Remain in the South Until 2031, Says BTO For PBAT

Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, director-general of the BTO For PBAT ’27 Support Group, says Nigeria’s presidency should remain in the South until 2031 to promote fairness, stability and national unity. He argues that the South should complete an eight-year tenure that began when Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, subject to Nigerians’ decision at the 2027 ballot box. While acknowledging that power rotation is not written into the Constitution and that every qualified Nigerian has the right to run, he urges political leaders to uphold inclusion and regional balance. The group operates under the leadership of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
