The Supreme Court reserved its judgment in an appeal filed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) challenging the nullification of certain sections of the Electoral Act 2026 by the Court of Appeal. The appellate court had struck down sections 77(5), (6), and (7), as well as 84(2), which regulate political party membership registers and the candidate nomination procedure for the 2027 general elections. This decision followed an appeal lodged by the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), which questioned the constitutionality of these provisions.
