2027: Tinubu’s Northern Support Faces Test Amid Economic Hardship

The APC launched its campaign for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election at a rally in Kaduna attended by thousands, including senior political figures. Speakers urged northern Nigerians to back Tinubu, but economic hardship has also fuelled dissatisfaction and divided views on whether he deserves another term. Political scientist Kamilu Sani Fagge of Bayero University, Kano, cautioned that rally attendance does not demonstrate electoral support and said the smaller Ranchers Bees Stadium could make the crowd appear larger.

Niger says Chadian drone strike killed two civilians

Nigerien authorities accused Chad of launching a drone that struck the Emi Lulu area in the Salvador Pass on Saturday morning, killing two civilians, injuring others and damaging vehicles. The remote mining region, near the Algerian and Libyan borders, is a key route for smuggling and militant activity.
