26 Kenyans Arrested in India for Smuggling 29kg Gold Worth Ksh525 Million

Indian authorities arrested 26 Kenyans at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for attempting to smuggle 29.4 kilograms of gold valued at approximately Ksh525 million. Most of those detained were elderly women suspected of being part of an organized smuggling network. Investigations revealed that some suspects attempted to discard packages containing melted gold bars. The suspects are currently in judicial custody as investigations continue into the wider network involved in the smuggling operation.
