Nigeria’s Economic Crisis Predates Tinubu, Says Former Minister Ikoh

Former Minister of State for Science and Technology Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh says Nigeria’s economic crisis predates Bola Tinubu’s arrival in office in May 2023. He cites dependence on crude oil, limited industrial diversification, inflation and inconsistent economic policies as long-standing causes. Ikoh defends the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign-exchange market adjustments, but says reforms should be judged by their effects on jobs, food affordability, investment and purchasing power. He calls for continued reforms and higher agricultural and industrial production, and backs a second Tinubu term.

2027: APC defends Tinubu’s Kaduna rally speech, says his appearance did the job

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka defended Bola Tinubu’s speech at the party’s October 24 rally in Kaduna, saying the president’s presence and thanks to supporters were enough to achieve the event’s purpose. Morka said the rally was intended to bring party members and supporters together ahead of the 2027 presidential election, not to serve as a policy debate. In Kaduna, Tinubu blamed his opponents for hunger and poverty, defended his administration’s record, and urged voters to support his bid for a second term, promising prosperity and development.
