37 NSCDC custody deaths: Committee of inquiry begins investigation

The independent Committee of Inquiry into the deaths of 37 persons in NSCDC custody has begun sittings following its inauguration by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The secretary, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, stated that the committee will visit relevant sites, interview survivors, suspects, and witnesses, and gather documents to establish the facts. The medical team has already started investigating the cause and manner of the deaths, and the committee has called on the public to support its work by submitting memoranda.
