BREAKING: NNPCL increases petrol price amid disputed fuel discount

Nigeria’s state-owned NNPCL raised its petrol price on Friday to 1,405 naira per litre, up from 1,370 naira. Fuel attendants told DAILY POST that the increase was announced on Thursday and took effect Friday; the company has not explained the adjustment. The price had returned to 1,370 naira on Monday after previously rising to 1,405 naira. The latest increase comes amid controversy over an announced fuel discount and after Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele proposed a fixed gantry price of 1,375 naira per litre ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
