Spain train crash: Young athlete and former minister among victims

A collision between a high-speed Renfe train and a stationary Iryo train on the same track near Urda in central Spain killed 69 people and injured more than 100 on Wednesday morning. Among the victims were Julieta Gallego, a 24-year-old long jumper with Madrid club AD Sprint, and Fátima Báñez, 59, a former employment minister and chair of the CEOE. It was Spain’s second deadly rail disaster this year and the country’s worst since 2013.
