Police Rescue 15-Year-Old Kidnap Victim in Oyo State

Oyo State police rescued Sumaila Muhammadu, a 15-year-old boy abducted on Oct. 18 from the Onidundun area of Akinyele Local Government Area. Acting on intelligence received Thursday about a ransom demand, police and members of the Oyo Zone Vigilante Group carried out an operation in the Pipeline-Ajagba area along Awe–Iwo Road. A gunfight broke out at about 9:30 p.m.; one suspected kidnapper was killed, while the others fled, some with gunshot wounds. Police recovered an Android phone and a cutlass and are working to arrest the fleeing suspects.
