Félix Tshisekedi, President of the DRC, proposed to Brazzaville that his country compensate victims of an incident that occurred in late August between patrol boats from the two Congos on the Congo River. He expressed regret after discussions with President Denis Sassou Nguesso and stated his intention to meet the victims to arrange compensation. The incident took place on the night of August 26-27 near Makotipoko, involving the Congolese navy and gendarmerie and a patrol from the DRC, with two Congolese soldiers being repatriated to Kinshasa.
