Manyatta MP Proposes Renaming Embu County to Embu-Mbeere

Manyatta MP John Gitonga Mukunji has proposed renaming Embu County to Embu-Mbeere to address long-standing injustices faced by the Mbeere community. He claims that Mbeere has been neglected in development despite having sufficient resources like water and minerals, partly due to its name. Mukunji advocates for the name change to promote equality, similar to Taita Taveta County. Changing the county's name would require a constitutional amendment involving Parliament and possibly a national referendum.
