5 countries FIFA banned over government interference in football

FIFA suspended five countries due to government interference in their football federations. Zimbabwe was suspended in February 2022 after the Sports and Recreation Commission became involved in the administration of ZIFA, but the suspension was lifted in July 2023. India was also suspended in August 2022 due to a committee of administrators taking control of the AIFF, but the ban was lifted shortly after. Sri Lanka faced a similar suspension in January 2023.
