Somali businesses are seeking alternative maritime routes due to tensions in the Bab al-Mandeb and Hormuz straits. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have taken control of a strategic port city, causing disruptions in trade activities. Mohamed Ali Nur, director of the Mogadishu maritime port, stated that measures have been taken to alter import routes, including the arrival of a ship carrying sugar directly from Sri Lanka.
