54 FARDC soldiers tried in an expedited trial in Walikale for murder and abandoning their post

Fifty-four soldiers from the FARDC’s 3415th Regiment have been on trial since October 26 before the Goma garrison military court, sitting in Walikale, North Kivu. They face charges including murder, abandoning their post, misappropriating ammunition and disobedience after incidents in Ntoto on October 20 left two people dead and two injured, including both soldiers and civilians. According to Major Dieudonné Kasereka, the clashes occurred as military police tried to stop soldiers from leaving the combat zone without authorization. A verdict is expected in early November.

Mame Diarra Thiam, known as Diodio Glow Skin, and Rokhaya Fall, called “Rox la chancelière,” were referred to the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor’s office and face several accusations, including criminal conspiracy, death threats and online public insults. Investigators have also added money laundering, extortion and incitement to commit an offence; Thiam was charged and placed under electronic monitoring with a nighttime house arrest, while Fall is under judicial supervision. An examination of Fall’s phone uncovered a WhatsApp conversation with Thiam and a Wave receipt showing a 600,000 CFA franc transfer, of which 595,000 CFA francs was received, on March 2, 2026. Thiam told investigators the transfer was made because Fall had asked for financial help; the report announces a third audio recording linked to the case.
