France: Two Dead and 16 Injured in Bus Crash

A bus traveling between Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse left the D22 near Lent at around 7:30 a.m., struck trees and came to rest in a ditch. It was carrying 43 people, including 15 minors; two passengers died—a 7-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man—and 16 were injured, three of them seriously. More than 100 firefighters, gendarmes and several helicopters were deployed, and psychological support was arranged for victims and their families. The Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into road homicide and aggravated road injuries; the hospitalized driver had not yet been interviewed.

FR-Alert: Nuclear emergency drill will trigger phone alerts in Gironde on November 12

Residents within 20 kilometres of the Blayais nuclear power plant in Gironde will receive an FR-Alert message on Thursday, November 12, 2026, as part of a national nuclear safety drill continuing the following day. The exercise will involve 80 municipalities in Gironde and Charente-Maritime, which will activate their local emergency plans. The prefecture says the alert is for educational purposes, is based on a fictional scenario and requires no action from residents; it will also be relayed on A10 motorway signs and radio station 107.7. Held every five years under France’s Internal Security Code, the drill will test the plant’s emergency response plan and raise public awareness of protective measures.
