Theewaterskloof mayor Lincoln de Bruyn removed as coalition tensions persist

Theewaterskloof mayor Lincoln de Bruyn was removed during a council meeting on Wednesday following a motion by the ANC, PA, and EFF. This marks the fifth mayoral change since the November 2021 local elections, highlighting ongoing political instability. The removal comes just weeks before the local government elections on November 4, with Cape Forum urging voters to 'fix the mistakes' by voting differently. DA Western Cape leader Tertuis Simmers criticized the coalition's actions, accusing parties of prioritizing political positions over service delivery.
