65 dead as fresh Ebola outbreak hits eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

A fresh outbreak of the Ebola virus has been confirmed in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with at least 65 deaths recorded so far. African health authorities have identified 246 suspected cases, including four fatalities among laboratory-confirmed patients. The outbreak was detected in Ituri Province, and the Africa CDC has convened an emergency meeting to strengthen cross-border surveillance and response measures.
