“We would have used a wheelbarrow to carry the naira,” Tinubu says

President Bola Tinubu said in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, that the naira would have become worthless without the decisions he made after taking office in 2023. He said Nigerians would have needed a wheelbarrow to carry the currency. Speaking at a campaign rally, he described the January 16, 2027 presidential election as decisive for Nigeria’s future. Tinubu also said that when he took office, 27 of the country’s 36 governors could not meet their salary obligations.
