At least two security officials killed near Iran’s critical Chabahar port

At least two Iranian security personnel have been killed in separate incidents along the eastern border with Pakistan near the critical Chabahar port. An officer commanding a women’s unit in Iran’s Basij paramilitary force was shot outside her home in Mehrestan, Sistan-Baluchestan province, and another officer was killed in an attack on a police vehicle in the same area. Military helicopters have been circling over Iranshahr, and the region remains tense amid multiple attacks attributed to groups Iran labels as terrorist outfits supported from abroad.
