7,825 abducted, 1,142 killed in one year — SBM

Between July 2025 and June 2026, 7,825 people were abducted and at least 1,142 killed in 1,411 kidnapping incidents across Nigeria, according to a report by SBM Intelligence. Zamfara State recorded the highest number of incidents, with 236 cases involving 1,921 victims. The total ransom demanded was N22.856 billion, but only N7.779 billion was actually paid, representing a 34% collection rate.
