Lubero: Nearly a Month After School Reopening, Several Schools Remain Closed in Mwenye Due to Insecurity Linked to ADF Activism

Nearly a month after the 2026-2027 school year began in Lubero, several schools in Mwenye, particularly in the villages of Mausa, Lumba, and Sijambale, remain closed due to insecurity and population displacements. The local youth council reports that more than five schools may not reopen because of the lack of teachers, students, and suitable conditions, mainly due to ongoing ADF rebel activity. They call for increased security and the resumption of classes to prevent school dropout and other social issues.
