8 cholera cases and 2 deaths reported at Kindu Central Prison

Kindu Central Prison in Maniema province is experiencing a cholera outbreak with eight cases among inmates and two deaths. Provincial Health Minister Dr. Alexis Chomba states that measures have been implemented to contain the spread and treat those infected. The epidemic, first reported in Kasongo from Tanganyika, has spread to other areas, including Kindu, where the situation is largely under control at the general hospital but remains concerning in the prison environment due to overcrowding and poor hygiene conditions.
