Foreigners Now Seek Nigerian Passports, Dabiri-Erewa Says

Abike Dabiri-Erewa says many foreign nationals are seeking help to obtain Nigerian passports, with some hoping to invest in Nigeria or settle there. At a press briefing in Abuja, she outlined a five-point plan to mobilise Nigerians abroad for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, including digital outreach, fundraising and efforts to counter misinformation. She noted that Nigerians abroad cannot currently vote from their countries of residence and urged the National Assembly to amend the law. Diaspora remittances exceed $20 billion a year, she said, supporting sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture and information technology.
