Army, Buratai, others mourn as former military finance chief, Jakko dies

The Nigerian Army, former Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, and other senior officers mourned retired Maj.-Gen. Ezra Jakko, former Chief of Accounts and Budget, who died on September 10, 2026, at age 62. Jakko, who joined the army in 1989 and rose to Major-General in 2017, held key positions including Chief of Accounts and Budget, Chief of Defence Finance and Budget, and Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation. Buratai praised his professionalism, prudence, and integrity, highlighting his significant contributions to army administration and national financial management.
