Pope Leo returns to Vatican after lung cancer surgery

Pope Leo XIV returned to the Vatican on October 17, four days after surgery in Rome to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. The operation confirmed adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer, and doctors said his condition continued to improve. He is due to greet the faithful on Sunday during the Angelus blessing. His next major engagement is a trip to Latin America in mid-November.
