Great Lakes: James Swan conducts consultations on the situation in eastern DRC ahead of his briefing and the evaluation of MONUSCO's mandate at the UN Security Council

Three months before the expiration of MONUSCO's mandate, James Swan, the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative, visited Burundi, Uganda, and Rwanda to discuss regional conflict issues. This visit highlighted the urgent need for action to resolve these conflicts in the interest of affected populations. Swan also reaffirmed the UN's support for African Union-led mediation and emphasized the importance of African leadership in peace efforts.
