Thousands march for school funding in Greece

About 10,000 demonstrators, including school and university students, rallied peacefully in Athens and its suburbs on Wednesday, calling for more education funding, better facilities and smaller classes. Protests also took place in Thessaloniki, Patras, Larissa and other cities, with demonstrators chanting for public, free education. The rallies add pressure on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s government as Greece heads towards elections in mid-2027 and households face stagnant wages, high rents and rising energy costs.
