A bank suffers 95 million euro AI scam in Italy – La Nouvelle Tribune

In Italy, Fideuram, a bank part of the Intesa Sanpaolo group, was targeted in a sophisticated AI-based scam. The fraudsters falsified documents, sent fake messages, and used voice cloning of lawyer Paolo Nastasi to deceive Fideuram's president Paolo Molesini in February 2026. Approximately 95 million euros were transferred to accounts in Portugal, Hong Kong, and China, with over half recovered—around 13 million euros in Portugal and more than 40 million in China—while 36 million euros remain missing, some converted into cryptocurrencies.
