The cost of the Kikot-Mbebe hydroelectric dam is estimated at 872 billion FCFA in an official document, while another document indicates a figure of 1,620 billion FCFA, creating a gap of 748 billion FCFA. The Kikot-Mbebe Hydro Power Company (KHPC) is seeking funding for this project, which plans to build a 500 MW power plant on the Sanaga River. KHPC obtained the Environmental Compliance Certificate in July 2026 and completed the selection of companies for civil engineering works in November 2025.
