Durban Refugees Relocated to Gauteng

Refugees and asylum seekers camping outside the Home Affairs offices in Durban since May are being relocated to Gauteng. They were forced from their homes ahead of the June 30 anti-immigration protests. The Department of Home Affairs plans to transport 278 people to the Lindela Repatriation Centre in Krugersdorp, prompting mixed emotions among the migrants. Some, including Ghanaian hairdresser Princess Adjei and Congolese refugee Robert Bhabi, are hopeful about starting anew, while others have chosen to remain in Durban.
