Traffic flow: Flyover opens in Diamniadio for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Infrastructure Minister Déthié Fall officially opened a flyover built above the Regional Express Train line in Diamniadio, acting on the instructions of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. The structure connects Diamniadio’s urban hub to the national road and is intended to provide easier access to a key route for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. A roundabout has also been built beneath another flyover under construction on the national road to improve traffic in both directions between Diamniadio and Dakar.

On October 27, 2026, in Kinshasa, 50 female secondary-school graduates received university scholarships through “Mathematics for Women,” a competition organized by Lizadeel with support from the Airtel Foundation. The package also includes 150 computers and coverage of academic and other school-related fees. In its third edition, the competition involved 400 students from 200 schools across Kinshasa’s five educational provinces. Deputy Minister Théodore Kazadi Muayila and Lizadeel board chair Joseph Godé Kayembe described the initiative as a way to promote equal educational opportunities and encourage girls to pursue science studies.

Five killed, including four students, in crash involving Niger governor’s convoy

Five people, including four presumed postgraduate students at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and a young woman, were killed Monday in a collision on the Minna–Bida Road. A resident said a Hilux in Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s convoy collided head-on with the Peugeot 206 driven by Mrs Nafisa, who died at the scene, after the Hilux allegedly overtook improperly. The Hilux driver was also killed, while other occupants were injured, including a former local government council chairman. Police confirmed the crash and said it was under investigation.
