Two people were killed and another was seriously injured on Saturday, October 24, when armed bandits ambushed a convoy of travelers in Ferme village, Ikobo groupement, Walikale territory, North Kivu. Groupement chief Mwami Makasi Likanga said the travelers were returning from the Malimingi mining site and heading to Buleusa when unidentified road bandits attacked them. Several passengers fled into the forest, leaving their belongings behind, which the attackers looted before escaping. Traffic to Malimingi has stopped, and residents are calling for urgent measures to secure the route.
